Shawnee resident Laura Smith-Everett is making another run at the Kansas House, announcing her candidacy late Monday night for the District 17 seat represented by Tom Cox.
In an email sent out shortly before midnight, Smith-Everett - a Democrat - revealed her plans to run for the seat that Cox will vacate to run for the state Senate next year.
Smith-Everett lost to Cox last fall by 330 votes in a three-way race that also included Libertarian Michael Kerner.
“Ultra-conservative Republicans in Topeka are out of touch with the citizens of House District 17," Smith-Everett said . . .
