Senate passes transgender athletics bill, sends it to governor

For the third consecutive year, the Kansas Legislature is sending a bill to the governor that would ban transgender female athletes from competing in interscholastic sports for women or girls at any public school or postsecondary educational institution.

The Senate passed the Fairness in Women's Sports Act on a 28-11 vote, sending it back to Gov. Laura Kelly, who vetoed the bill in 2021 and 2022.
