Senate passes budget; Legislature nears end of work

Lawmakers are nearing an end to their regular session after the Senate passed a nearly $20 billion budget late Tuesday afternoon.

Republican leadership in both chambers believes lawmakers could head home as early as Wednesday for an early break with the budget out of the way.

They could leave other issues such Medicaid expansion and the constitutional amendment on abortion to be handled when they're scheduled to return from their break in late April.
