Kansas senators have tucked nearly $16 million into the state budget with a measure that would direct Gov. Laura Kelly to send the National Guard to the Texas border to fight drug and human trafficking.
The Senate Ways and Means Committee added the money to the adjutant general's budget with the budget proviso inserted into the governor's budget directing Kelly to send the guard to the Texas border to fight issues related to illegal immigration.
