Former Democratic state Rep. Chuck Schmidt of Wichita has filed to run again for the House seat that he lost two years ago to Republican Sandy Pickert.
Schmidt said he filed to get on the ballot in the 88th District by petition, submitting 225 signatures, 137 more than he needed. His said his petition has not yet been certified.
"I have never seen the level of enthusiasm for change so high among voters," Schmidt said in announcing his candidacy.
