Ryckman removes Hineman from committee chairmanship

House Speaker Ron Ryckman Jr. on Friday removed former House Majority Leader Don Hineman from his committee chairmanship.

Ryckman announced late Friday afternoon that he pulled Hineman as chair of the Rural Revitalization Committee.

Hineman will remain on the committee. He will be replaced by Republican state Rep. Adam Smith. Republican state Rep. Ron Highland will serve as the committee's vice chair.

"As we gear up for the new year, these changes will help bring additional perspectives to the issues facing our rural communities," Ryckman said in a statement sent late today . . .
