Retired KBI official becomes third candidate seeking House seat

The retired associate director of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is running for the House seat that is being vacated by Republican state Rep. Fred Patton of Topeka.

David Hutchings has been circulating a letter announcing his candidacy for the House District 50 seat that Patton has represented since 2015.

He faces Cheryl Reynolds, vice chair of the Kansas Republican Party, and Seaman School Board member Kyle McNorton.

Precinct committee members will convene this Saturday to pick the candidate to serve out Patton's term.
