Republican-affiliated PAC turns to Obama for help in key House race

A decade or so ago, Kansas Republicans effectively used former Democratic President Barack Obama as a cudgel to turn back Democratic statehouse candidates.

Knowing that Obama wasn't terribly popular in Kansas, Republicans would incorporate the former president's image into campaign ads against Democrats.

After being out of office for eight years, Obama's image is returning to Kansas politics, this time with a goal of helping Kansas Republicans elect a Democrat who votes with them.

A Republican-leaning political action committee has sent out a mailer featuring Obama in support of Democratic state Rep. Marvin Robinson of Kansas . . .
