Regulators approve KCP&L rate cuts, move ahead with school rate study

The Kansas Corporation Commission on Thursday approved a $10.7 million rate cut for KCP&L's Kansas customers and agreed to study a special rate class for schools.

The commission unanimously agreed to reduce rates for KCP&L customers by 40 cents a month — or 0.4 percent — for the average residential customer. The new rate cut for the utility's Kansas customers will start Dec. 20.

The average small commercial business will see a $2-per-month . . .
