Regents name new Pittsburg State president with record of enrollment success

The Kansas Board of Regents on Friday named a new president for Pittsburg State University with more than 20 years of higher education experience with a record of building student enrollment at schools where he's held leadership positions.

The board voted to name Thomas Newsom, president of Southeastern Oklahoma State, as Pittsburg State's 11th president.

He replaces Dan Shipp, who announced in February that he was leaving to become the next president of Maryville University in St. Louis.
