Republican state Rep. Ken Rahjes has tested positive for COVID-19 after attending this week's organizational meeting of the Legislature.

Rahjes tested positive on Thursday, three days after lawmakers convened in Topeka to choose their leadership teams. He said he is quarantined until Dec. 15.

House Speaker Ron Ryckman Jr. sent out an email to lawmakers, alerting House members that someone attending the organizational meeting had been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Rahjes confirmed the diagnosis in an interview early Friday night.
