Race for Senate vice president heats up

The race for Senate vice president is catching fire with Republican Sens. Molly Baumgardner and Rick Wilborn seeking the position.

Baumgardner and Wilborn have sent letters to the 29-member Republican caucus asking for support in their bids for Senate vice president.

They are seeking the position now held by Republican Sen. Jeff Longbine, who has expressed an interest in serving as Senate president.

It was unknown how Longbine will proceed after the election in which the Senate will lean more conservative than the past four years.
