Outside groups poured more than $1 million into GOP primary for attorney general

The Republican primary for Kansas attorney general was one of the most expensive primary campaigns in more than 25 years in a three-way race won by Kris Kobach that cost a little more than $2 million.

The three candidates - Kobach, state Sen. Kellie Warren and former federal prosecutor Tony Mattivi - plus four outside groups spent close to $2.2 million on the primary race.

The race was fueled with more than $1 million coming from outside groups, including Americans for Prosperity, which backed Warren in the race and pumped more than SSJ
