UPDATED: Kelly names former Democratic lawmaker to KCC

Gov. Laura Kelly on Friday moved to changed the composition of the Kansas Corporation Commission as it undertakes a request to raise electric rates for about 1 million Kansans.

The governor nominated former longtime Democratic state Rep. Annie Kuether to a seat on the three-member panel that regulates investor-owned utilities, oil and natural gas exploration and production as well as commercial trucking.

Current KCC Commissioner Andrew French was renominated.

Kuether, who must be confirmed by the Senate, would replace Susan Duffy. Kelly appointed Duffy to the KCC in 2019 . . .
