Lottery rolls out first vending machines

The Kansas Lottery on Wednesday rolled out the first of 272 vending machines it plans to put in stores with high-volume sales and lots of foot traffic.

The lottery is placing vending machines at four locations in Topeka, and plans to install the others at select locations across the state next month. The state has about 1,700 lottery retailers.

The lottery is deploying three different types of machines, weighing from 260 pounds to 600 pounds.
