For just the third time in 12 years, the Kansas Livestock Association has endorsed a Democrat in a statewide race when it announced its support for lawyer Chris Mann for Kansas attorney general on Thursday.
The association backed Mann over former Republican Secretary of State Kris Kobach, whose relationship with agriculture interests and the Livestock Association has been strained over the years.
The Livestock Association last backed a Democrat in 2014 when it supported former state Sen. Jean Schodorf of Wichita over Kobach.
