Little oversight of development funds, audit says

The state provides little supervision over how millions of dollars in economic development funds are spent, a new audit says.

State auditors on Wednesday reported that in fiscal year 2018, lawmakers transferred $20.1 million in economic development funds to the state's general fund, where the money is likely not used as intended.

Funded with state gaming revenues, the Economic Development Initiatives Fund is intended to support new and existing Kansas businesses and to foster . . .
