Legislature sends bill banning gender-affirming care for minors to governor

The Kansas Legislature on Wednesday approved a bill that bans gender-affirming care for Kansas children, setting the bill on a path toward an override showdown with Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly, who has vetoed the measure previously.

The Senate and the House approved a bill that bans health care providers from treating a child’s gender dysphoria with puberty blockers, hormone treatments and surgery.
