Legislature approves new congressional districts

The Kansas House on Wednesday approved new congressional districts over the objections of Democrats who said the boundaries weaken minority voting strength by breaking up the 3rd Congressional District represented by Democrat Sharice Davids.

The House passed the bill 79-37, five votes short of the 84 needed to override Gov. Laura Kelly's veto, something that is highly anticipated.
