Lawmakers are moving ahead with plans to develop their own budget, starting with an enhanced budget committee that could start meeting as early as November.
A special joint committee recommended creating the enhanced budget committee that will have to be approved by the Legislative Coordinating Council.
The size of the committee was still unknown since its formation will be left to the Legislative Coordinating Council.
The new budget committee could meet four times before the start of the upcoming legislative session as it crafts a budget.
The joint committee also agreed to limit budget provisos with added spending.
