State Rep. Adam Thomas was set to undergo surgery Tuesday morning after he was involved in a softball accident on Monday night.
House Speaker Dan Hawkins informed Republican lawmakers of the accident in an email he to sent to the caucus on Tuesday morning.
Thomas suffered multiple face fractures around his cheek and eye as well as damage to his right eye after he was hit by a ball.
He is scheduled for surgery this morning at Overland Park Regional Hospital.
