LaTurner shifts gears, mounts campaign for Congress


Kansas Treasurer Jake LaTurner shifted gears Wednesday, announcing that he plans to run for Congress against Republican incumbent Steve Watkins instead of the U.S. Senate.

LaTurner's announcement comes about a week after former Gov. Jeff Colyer encouraged him to run against a weak Republican incumbent who has been dogged by rumors and innuendo and barely scratched by Democrat Paul Pavis last year.

“I wake up every day appalled at the news coming from the Democrats in Washington, DC. They want to transform America into a country that we would not recognize," LaTurner said in a statement Wednesday morning . . .
