Secretary of State Kris Kobach called out Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer for his intention to sign a roughly $525 million education finance bill that Kobach said was built on a “house of cards.”
Taking the offensive in Friday night’s gubernatorial debate in Atchison, Kobach criticized the governor for agreeing to support a bill that relied partly on a windfall from a change in the federal tax code that could effectively lead to a tax increase.
“That $500 million bill should not have been passed and should not be signed,” Kobach said to applause at the packed Atchison Event Center . . .
