Secretary of State Kris Kobach said Friday he would recuse himself from carrying out the election duties of his office until the 2018 primary election process concludes.

Although Kobach said he would discharge his responsibilities "ethically, impartially, and responsibly," the secretary said he thought it was in the best interest of the state to let someone assume his duties while the primary election results are sorted out.
