Gov. Laura Kelly late Wednesday vetoed a bill giving Attorney General Kris Kobach oversight of local governments that bring class-action lawsuits similar to litigation seeking damages from vaping, opioid abuse and climate change.
"As a strong supporter of local control, I believe that decisions around legal services should be handled by the local elected leaders who are on the ground and best know their communities’ needs," Kelly said in a statement.
