Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and a bipartisan group of Kansas legislators announced Friday they were working to pass a bill that would centralize child care licensing and consolidate about 20 existing early childhood programs into one office.
Kelly and the lawmakers - Republican Rep. Laura Williams of Lenexa, Republican Sen. Tory Marie Blew of Great Bend and Democratic Sen. Pat Pettey of Kansas City - are getting behind a bill that would create the Office of Early Childhood.
