Kelly administration reveals plans to deal with shortfall

Gov. Laura Kelly's administration gave lawmakers a peek into how she plans to rework the state budget to account for plummeting revenues resulting from the economic slowdown caused by the coronavirus.

State Budget Director Larry Campbell handed out draft copies of an allotment plan designed to get the state to a zero ending balance for fiscal year 2021.

The state is now on track to finish the year more than $600 million in the red for fiscal 2021.
