The Kansas Senate is apparently lining up to tackle Kansas’ high electricity rates with a resolution calling on state regulators to keep rates regionally competitive.
Thirty-one senators are backing the resolution, which urges the Kansas Corporation Commission to identify any new laws that would reduce retail electricity rates to regionally competitive levels.
The resolution, backed by Republicans and Democrats, was introduced in the Senate on Wednesday.
Kansas has the highest electricity rates in the Midwest, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
