Judicial amendment campaign approached $20 million with opponents outspending supporters

The battle waged over a constitutional amendment calling for the election of state Supreme Court justices cost almost $19 million with the opponents outspending supporters by a nearly a 3-to-1 margin with significant support from former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The latest finance reports covering calendar year 2026, which were due last week, show that opponents spent at least $14 million to kill the amendment compared to about $5 million for the supporters.
