Judge’s ruling emerges as campaign issue over judicial amendment

A Douglas County judge has emerged as a flash point in the campaign over whether Kansas should elect justices to the Kansas Supreme Court.

Within days of Carl Folson III temporarily blocking parts of a law that banned using puberty blockers and hormone therapy for treating transgender youth, he became a Facebook post for what's wrong with the state's judicial system.

Kansas Family Voice, an advocate of the amendment, cast a warning about Folsom, underscoring that he's been recommended by a nine-person screening . . .
