The Johnson County Commission is asking a judge to set aside an attorney general's opinion saying the county exceeded its authority to ask voters to renew a public safety sales tax to fund mental health and emergency medical services.
In a lawsuit filed in Johnson County District Court, the county commission says the opinion issued by Kris Kobach "created confusion, misunderstanding and uncertainty" about the ballot question that was originally to be voted on this fall.
