Insurance commissioner race hits the airwaves

Outgoing House Speaker Dan Hawkins and the top Senate Democrat Dinah Sykes hit the airwaves Tuesday morning with new ads introducing themselves to Kansas voters in the race for insurance commissioner.

Hawkins has booked about $106,000 in broadcast buys in the Wichita/Hutchinson market where the Sedgwick County lawmaker is probably the most well known, according to national ad tracker, AdImpact.

Sykes of Lenexa has booked about about $64,000 in the Wichita/Hutchinson market as well, according to ad impact.

Neither of them have broadcast time booked in other parts  of the state at this point although that . . .
