(Updated to reflect Senate action)
Kansas lawmakers on Friday voted to override the governor's decision to defund the legislative branch in response to lawmakers not giving a “meaningful” pay raise to state employees.
The Legislature also overrode the governor's veto of language authorizing any state employee or legislator to park in any state facility from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. so long as the lot is not secured by a gate or arm.
"This is irresponsible policy and is not an ethical use of public resources," the governor said.
