Republican state Rep. Ron Highland of Wamego announced Monday that he would not seek a sixth term in the Legislature.
Elected in 2012 to represent the 51st House District, Highland revealed his plans to leave the Legislature in a brief address on the House floor Monday.
Joined by his wife of 53 years on the floor, Highland said it's been a humbling experience to have been elected to the Legislature.
He recalled his first year in the Capitol, comparing it to a having a dump truck unload paper in his office as he was expected to learn the ins . . .
