Incoming House Speaker Dan Hawkins has rolled out the Republican committee assignments for the upcoming 2023-24 term.
The speaker created a two new committees, including one that is a spinoff of the Children and Seniors Committee.
The new speaker has created a new committee dividing up the Children and Seniors Committee into two, one focused on child welfare and foster care and the second focused on welfare reform.
The welfare reform committee was created, in part, to ensure that Gov. Laura Kelly's administration is complying with welfare requirements approved by the Legislature.
