Governor signs six new bills

Gov. Laura Kelly signed six bills Monday, including one that would require school districts to provide basic vision screening to students throughout their education.

The bill provides children with disabilities with yearly free basic vision screenings from 3 to 5 years old.

The screenings also would be available at least once each school year for students enrolled in kindergarten and grades one through three, five, seven and 10 in a school district or an accredited nonpublic school . . .
