Gov. Laura Kelly on Thursday signed a bill that triples the amount of money that goes toward keeping up public airports in Kansas.
The bill, approved 34-5 in the Senate and 117-4 in the House, increases grant funding for the state’s 109 public airports to $15 million from $5 million a year.
The state receives far more requests for funding than it has money to bankroll.
