A former University of Kansas student employee has filed a federal lawsuit against the school for being dismissed after addressing the media about a policy change requiring students in a residence hall to use bathrooms aligned with their gender in the student file.
Anthony Alvarez, a transgender student, filed the lawsuit against the university as well as the school's director of housing and residence life. He accuses the school of violating his First Amendment and 14th Amendment due process rights.
