Former Republican lawmaker challenging GOP incumbent; cites votes on taxes, transgender sports bill

Former state Rep. Marty Long of Ulysses has filed to retake the seat in the Kansas House that he left after the 2022 legislative session.

Long, a Republican, has filed to run in House District 124, an area in southwest Kansas that he represented from 2019 to 2023.

Long would presumably face Republican incumbent David Younger, a former superintendent who succeeded Long in the House.

The former lawmaker said in an interview that his successor is voting in ways that are inconsistent with the people he represents.
