Former Republican state Sen. Carolyn McGinn of Sedgwick is joining Gov. Laura Kelly's administration as the new special adviser on water.
McGinn, who served in the Kansas Senate for 20 years, will replace Vijay Ramasamy, who departed the governor’s office earlier this month.
"Carolyn McGinn has committed her life to public service and has deep expertise that will make her an asset to my administration as we continue working to address Kansas’ most pressing water challenges," the governor said in a statement.
"I welcome her insight and look forward to working with her in this role.”
