First Black female lieutenant governor of Virginia to visit OP

Winsome Earle-Sears, the first Black female elected lieutenant governor in Virginia, is set to visit Johnson County in October.

Earle-Sears, a Republican, is scheduled to attend the event at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at  Fiorella's Event Space in Overland Park, Kansas.

The event is sponsored by the Kansas Black Republican Council, the Kansas Federation of Republican Women and the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Kansas.

A native of Jamaica, Earle-Sears immigrated to the United States when she was 6.

Earle-Sears was first elected in 2002 to represent a majority Black House of Delegates . . .
