Federico Consulting on Monday announced Stephen Duerst as a new partner in a restructuring of the firm.
Duerst has been with Federico for five years where he lobbies on local, state and federal levels and deals in public relations, issue management and regulatory counsel.
“Stephen is not only highly respected in his own right at the statehouse, but he is an incredible talent and I wanted to tap into the fresh ideas and enthusiasm he brings as we plan for the long-term growth of the firm,” said John Federico, the firm’s founder and president.
Federico said he has no intention of reducing his role in the firm, which will now be known as Federico/Duerst.
Duerst has previously worked as a fundraiser for the Republican National Committee and on former presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign finance team in 2012.
He also helped start a boutique public affairs consulting firm in Washington, D.C., called Cowan Strategies.
He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison and earned his law degree from the University of Kansas.
