Democrats using adoption bill controversy to raise money

Kansas Democrats are using the controversy over the faith-based adoption bill passed by the Legislature to rev up their base and raise money this election season.

The party recently sent out an email blast urging its members to “fight discrimination,” citing the bill the Legislature passed allowing faith-based agencies to deny placements based on religious principles.

“This legislation allows private adoption agencies to discriminate against LGBTQ+ couples on the grounds of religious freedom,” the party said in its email. “The fact that every Democrat in the House and Senate voted against this awful bill is a testament to . . .
