Wyandotte County activist Faith Rivera has taken the first steps toward running against embattled Democratic state Rep. Aaron Coleman in next year's primary.
Rivera, a leading critic of Coleman's, has appointed a treasurer and has created a fundraising account on ActBlue, the online site that helps Democrats raise money from small donors.
Rivera declined to comment in a brief interview on Tuesday morning, saying she is planning an official announcement next month.
Coleman could not be reached for comment.
