Constitutional convention proposal expected to advance

A proposal asking Congress to call a constitutional convention to place limits on the federal government is back in play at the Kansas Capitol.

Leading senators believe a bill asking for a constitutional convention will make it out of committee and to the Senate floor.

State Sen. Bud Estes, a Republican from Dodge City, chairs the committee that heard testimony on the bill Wednesday morning in front of an overflow crowd that packed the small committee room.

Estes said he expects to work the bill and send it to the floor. The bill has some weight behind it with support . . .
