Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly on Thursday vetoed the new map of Kansas congressional districts that critics say weakens Democratic Congresswoman Sharice Davids and strengthens the district represented by Republican Congressman Jake LaTurner.
Kelly vetoed the Republican-drawn map bill that breaks up Davids' 3rd District by splitting Wyandotte County between the 2nd and 3rd Districts and giving her rural, more Republican-leaning areas farther south that include Franklin and Anderson counties.
