Ally of ‘parody marriage’ bill advocate hit with ethics charges

An associate of a man who peddles anti-pornography and anti-LGBTQ legislation around the country — and once filed litigation so he could marry his laptop — is facing more than six dozen state ethics charges.

The state ethics office has filed 74 counts of ethics violations against John Gunter Jr. of Sandy, Utah. Gunter is charged with 42 counts of unlawful lobbying, 26 counts of failure to file an expenditure report and six counts of failure to register as a lobbyist. A hearing is set for March 23.
