Ad spending in U.S. Senate race reaches $35 million

Spending on advertising in the U.S. Senate race climbed to roughly $35 million as the campaign heads into the final weeks of the election.

New data from Advertising Analytics shows that most of the ad spending - about $23.5 million - had come from outside groups.

About $11.5 came from Republican Congressman Roger Marshall and Democratic state Sen. Barbara Bollier combined.

Bollier spent about about $9.8 million compared to about $1.7 million for Marshall, who has received significant aid from national Republican groups.
