After being rejected twice by the Kansas Senate for a seat on the Kansas Court of Appeals, federal public defender Carl Folsom III is now in line for a judgeship he might land.
On Thursday, a screening committee recommended Folsom and four others for two open seats on the bench in the 7th Judicial District, which covers Douglas County.
The nominating commission recommended the candidates to fill one seat that came open with the retirement of District Judge Kay Huff and a new position created by the Legislature this year.
