A.G. asks Supreme Court to intervene in redistricting case

Republican Attorney General Derek Schmidt early Friday evening asked the Kansas Supreme Court to intervene in the legal dispute over the state's new congressional maps that are now being  challenged in court.

Schmidt filed a petition with the court asking the justices to throw out two lawsuits filed in Wyandotte County District Court earlier in the week.

The attorney general contends that state courts do not have jurisdiction over the new maps and the lawsuits ask . . .
